My father never finished high school and my mother didn't go to college. But they championed education. Together with the teachers who challenged and supported me, they made it possible for me to thrive.

That's why I've made education my life’s work. I teach at Columbia University and serve as Dean of the university's largest academic program, the Core Curriculum. I shape curriculum, support faculty, and make sure students have the best education possible. Over two decades as an academic leader I’ve managed multimillion-dollar budgets, set institutional policies, and hired and supported hundreds of instructors. I've worked with community college students and high school students facing serious hardship. I've advised high school teachers and administrators on teaching and learning.

Now I'm bringing that experience home to Nyack, where I live with my wife, Rachel, and our two children. We want our school board to work for every child and listen to every family.

I know what it meant to have my parents and teachers support me. I want every child in Nyack to have that. Join me. Let's build the kind of future they deserve — together.
